Walt Disney World: Our top tips for getting around the Disney parks

Walt Disney World is massive. Covering 40 square miles, there are currently 25 hotels on property, 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, Disney Springs shopping area, and everything in between. Getting around can be a challenging task, but we’ve got the best way to get to each park right here.

Magic Kingdom

There are three main options for getting over to Magic Kingdom from your Walt Disney resort.

Monorail

The classic monorail carries people from the Grand Floridian, contemporary resort, Polynesian hotel, and the Ticket and Transportation Centre. There is also a link to EPCOT on the monorail, making getting between these two parks quick and easy!

The bus

Every on site property has bus transportation to the Magic Kingdom. Most resorts will require a bus to the parks if not on the monorail line, and is quicker than a bus and then monorail. Get the bus direct!

The ferry from Transportation and Ticket Centre

There is also a ferry over from the main parking area and where external busses drop you off. From here you can decide on the monorail or the ferry over. There is only a difference of about 10 minutes, and the experience and excitement that builds on your first crossing is a moment in itself!

EPCOT

Monorail

The monorail from Ticket and Transportation Centre links with the line to EPCOT. Its a short journey over to Disney Worlds second park in just minutes!

Buses

Again, every resort offers bus services to EPCOT, leaving you at the Future World section and Spaceship Earth at the main entrance.

The Skyliner

The newest form of transportation to EPCOT, the Skyliner drops you at the ‘back’ of the park, at World Showcase. You enter the park through the International Gateway, next to the France and United Kingdom and Ireland pavilion. This also connects you to Hollywood Studios, as well as easy access to the Riviera resort, Caribbean Beach resort, Pop Century, and Art of Animation.

By boat

A charming way to get from Hollywood Studios, Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Club and the Swan and Dolphin hotels, a boat up and down the small river system makes getting to and from EPCOT a great experience!

Hollywood Studios

By Skyliner

The best and newest way to get to Hollywood Studios is with the Skyliner. The same as EPCOT, serving you from Riviera resort, Caribbean Beach resort, Pop Century, and Art of Animation. This drops you at the front of the park, and is by far the fastest way to get around. Because of the system, queues are very short or non existent at many times.

By Boat

The same bus that serves EPCOT serves Hollywood Studios as well. A charming way to get from Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Club, the Swan and Dolphin hotels and from EPCOT itself, a boat up and down the small river system makes getting to and from Hollywood Studios a fun experience!

By Bus

As with all parks around Walt Disney World, you can get to Hollywood Studios from any resort with the complimentary bus service. Note though; resorts with the Skyliner have reduced bus services to as low as once an hour, so if you don’t like heights, take that into account!

Animal Kingdom

By Bus

That’s it. There is only bus transportation to Animal Kingdom. Being a bit away from the rest of the park, this means that they are trying to keep noise and pollution down for the wildlife in the Animal Kingdom park. There is no Skyliner, no boat, no monorail. You will have to get a bus to Animal Kingdom.
