Walt Disney World: What attractions to use your Fast Passes on in Magic Kingdom

With 4 parks eligible for Fast passes in Walt Disney World, there is often a challenge to pick what attractions you should use your Fast Passes on. Of course, there is no point in using a Fast Pass on an attraction that has a low wait time or doesn’t require a queue, or on a celebration such as the fireworks where views are excellent around the parks. So which should you use your Fast Passes on in Magic Kingdom?

If you are not familiar with what Fast Passes are, make sure you read out post about Fast Passes in Walt Disney World first!

What Fast Passes to get in Magic Kingdom

There are 44 attractions, rides and experiences at Magic Kingdom. When you are limited to just three Fast Passes in a day (though hint; you can book more once you use your first 3!), picking the best to use them on is a challenge. Here are our top picks.

Our Top three Fast Passes at Magic Kingdom:

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train | Disney Wiki | Fandom
  • Seven Dwarves Mine Train
    • The most popular ride in the park, even years after it has been released. Wait times for the stand by lines often are over 90 minutes and much, much higher. The highest we have ever seen is 240 minutes (4 hours!!).
  • Space Mountain
    • The second most popular ride in the park, but with two stations (And two tracks), the line does move much faster than the Seven Dwarves Mine Train, but stand by lines can easily be over 90 minutes as well. The highest we have ever seen is 220 minutes (just under 4 hours!)
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
    • An unusual choice, but this is one of the most popular rides in the park. With a slow throughput of guests, the queue moves very slowly for this ride, and with impressive ride vehicles, effects, and being one of the original rides, it is one of the more popular rides at Walt Disney World.

Good Alternatives to our Top Three:

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom in ...
  • Big Thunder Mountain
    • Personally, this is our favourite roller coaster of ANY park, worldwide. From the very first ‘This is the wiiiiildest ride in the Wilderness’ to the theming, to the fact that this is a LONG roller coaster, we actually get this as the Fast Pass ahead of others. But for your first time, its better to pick the three above.
  • Haunted Mansion
    • Another fan favourite; the Haunted Mansion has a cult following. And it can get very, very busy, with long queues. However, they usually move quite quickly. A tip; the lowest time it will EVER show in the stand by queue is 13 minutes, but that means it is a walk on!
  • Winnie the Pooh Adventures
    • A very popular ride, similar to the Peter Pan ride, but for Winnie the Pooh. This ride replaced the very popular Mr Toad’s Wild Ride, and actually has one of the most interactive and entertaining queues in Magic Kingdom. It does experience long waits of 60 minutes plus, but this goes much quicker than the likes of Peter Pan due to more throughput of guests.
  • Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin
    • One of the most interactive rides at all of Walt Disney World; help Buzz defeat the evil emperor Zurg, shoot at targets and amass a high score! This is one of our favourite rides at Walt Disney World, and highly recommended that you ride at least once!

Honourable Mentions:

Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean Ride at Walt Disney World
  • Jungle Cruise
    • Very entertaining boat ride full of witty puns and jokes. However, the queue moves very quickly for this ride due to the quick throughput of guests.
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
    • Another very popular ride at Walt Disney World, but the quick throughput of guests due to the large boats mean a short queue time usually.
  • Splash Mountain
    • A classic at Walt Disney World, but not as popular as some of the other rides because well, you get wet! The lines can be long on a very hot day, and non existent on cooler/cold days.

What not to use your Fast Pass on at Magic Kingdom:

Don’t bother using your Fast Passes on any of the other attractions at Walt Disney World than what was listed above; the wait times or queues are generally quick moving or short, or have enough space or visibility to not require using on of your precious Fast Passes.

There are currently 44 attractions at Magic Kingdom (45 with in incoming Tron Roller Coaster). Every one of them are popular in their own right, but most do not require using a Fast Pass on, or could be considered a ‘waste’.

Should I use a Fast Pass on the Night Time Spectacular Fireworks Show?

No photo description available.

No – this is visible from pretty much anywhere on Main Street, and you can easily find a spot in the Main Square outside the Castle up to 15 minutes before the fireworks begin. Using a Fast Pass for the fireworks gets you a good spot in the Castle Courtyard, but it means having to wait all day to use your final Fast Pass.
