Disneyland California: Reopening DELAYED

Well… this has been an interesting turn of events. In a huge U-turn, Disneyland in California has decided, nearly a month away from it, to NOT reopen on 17th July.

What happened? Why is Disneyland California now not reopening?

Disneyland has originally announced plans to reopen July 17, on the 65th anniversary of the resort. Now though, after pressure from staff amidst growing cases of Covid19 through the USA, the decision has been made to keep it shut further, with no further date announced as of yet. The company will now wait for further guidelines from the state of California and the state governor.

“Given the time required for us to bring thousands of cast members back to work and restart our business, we have no choice but to delay the reopening of our theme parks and resort hotels until we receive approval from government officials.”

What about Walt Disney World in Florida?

Disney World, Disney’s flagship resort in Florida, is still on track to reopen its gates next month.  Disney World plans to begin a phased reopening on July 11 for its Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom parks and on July 15 for EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.

However, there are rumours already circulating about putting this back, with petitions gaining traction from locals and cast members in Florida.
