Disneyland Paris’s Best Snack – Croque Monsieur

What is the ‘absolute’ must do in terms of food and snacks at Disneyland Paris? While many will mention the Mickey Waffles, the Cake Pops, the food booths outside It’s a Small World and Rataouille, the clear and undisputed king snack of Disneyland Paris is the not-so-humble Croque Monsieur.

I know what you’re thinking – Have I really just made an entire post about a ham and cheese sandwich…

The answer is yes… clearly. But to call it a ‘ham and cheese sandwich’ does this a massive injustice – this is not the throw-together toastie you’re making in the George Foreman! A Croque Monsieur is a French delicacy, requiring the right type of everything to make the magic happen.

What’s in Disneyland Paris’s Croque Monsieur?

  • The bread – sourdough bread is required for the right taste.
  • The ham – Specially selected French ham bind the cheese and sauce together.
  • The cheese – Only the best Gruyere cheese, thickly sliced, is used.
  • The sauce – this is where the magic is – a special Beschemel sauce is created using flour, chicken broth, milk, provolone, parmesan, swiss cheese, and shallots and butter.

Is it worth getting a Croque Monsieur at Disneyland Paris?

It is definitely worth getting at least one – but to be clear, that ONE sandwich currently costs €10, and they are not even full sandwiches (rather HALF sandwiches). No matter what way you cut it (the price, not the bread), thats very expensive. You want 4 of these sandwiches? €40. That is NOT worth it.

A much better suggestion is to share to try. This is not going to be your full lunch, its very much a taster or something to satisfy for 1 hour. Unfortunately, Disney do know that this is a cash-cow in Disneyland Paris (where food is already hugely overpriced) so it is always recommended to bring in your own drinks/snacks to Disney, and try little things here and there.

Would I get it a Croque Monsieur again?

Yes, I will definitely have at least one Croque Monsieur on my Disneyland Paris trip, though I think the days of buying 4 for all the family are gone.
