Walking through Discoveryland at the Disneyland Paris park, you’ll pass by Buzz Lightyear and the Orbitron to find the large ‘docked’ Hyperion Airship dominating the skyline and marking the entrance to the Hyperion Cafe.
Inside, a quick service meal is only minutes away (now with order screens as well) and often promoting Star award themed food due to proximity to Hyperspace Mountain).
The setting is my favourite quick service venue; a very large wide hallway with tiered seating allowing viewing or either the 3 screens showing Mickey and the gang cartoons, some quick trivia, or perhaps even a stage show.
During holiday events, stage shows are regularly shown each day such as celebrations of Christmas, featuring Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Daisy and Pluto along with a raft of talented singers and performers. A great refuge from the seasonal weather of DLP, the food isn’t the most interesting or tastiest, but always you enough and provides a place to relax for a short while.
At the far end of the hall, there are very large bathrooms and a great water bottle filling station and fountain. This end brings you out at the back of Hyperspace mountain and close to Star Tours and the back route into Fantasyland.
Is the Hyperion Cafe worth a visit for my quick service meal?
Yes, I would say that while the food is neither cheap nor spectacular, the venue itself is worth relaxing in for 30 minutes to an hour, or as a refuge from the weather.
Would I visit Hyperion Cafe again?
Again, yes. It’s convenient and we’ll located. While food isn’t amazing, it does the job (burgers, fries, chicken tenders) and it’s always a place I’ll go to relax.
Three special things about the Hyperion Cafe
- The stage shows while you eat and watch.
- There is a great relaxation room where you can snack, charge your phone, and take it easy without sitting upstairs at a table.
- You can meet Santa Claus during a Christmas time for free (pay for picture is available).
